Linking directly to native CAD models
PC-DMIS
Direct CAD Interfaces (DCIs) let customers directly access native CAD
models. A DCI eliminates the need to translate CAD data. Instead, it
actually uses the CAD system's native mathematical routines to display
and manipulate the model. It also uses this model in generating part
programs, evaluating measurement results and generating inspection
reports.
While directly interfacing with a CAD system requires a CAD seat license, it offers numerous benefits. These include:
- An interface linking PC-DMIS directly to the CAD system.
- Accurate CAD data, free from the limitations of translators.
- Access to GD&T information when CAD vendors begin exposing this information with their native APIs.
- Reduced programming time and improved program quality.
Thanks
to Direct CAD Interfaces, customers can easily use data from various
CAD systems directly in PC-DMIS, saving time and increasing accuracy.
Wilcox Associates Inc. (WAI) has developed direct interfaces to the following CAD systems for PC-DMIS Versions 3.2 and above:
- Unigraphics (V15, V16, V17, V18, NX 1, and NX2 for PC-DMIS versions dated later than July 2003)
- CATIA 4
- CATIA 5 (R8, R10, R11, and R12)
- Pro/ENGINEER (revision 20, 2000i 1999410, 2000i2, and Wildfire)
- I-DEAS (MS6A, MS7, V8, V9, and V10)
- ACIS (through Version 7)
- SolidWorks 2001 Plus SP 06 and SolidWorks 2003 (only supported in PC-DMIS Versions 3.5 and above)
