Hot off the presses!

The cover story in the August, 2008 issue of Quality Magazine is an article entitled "Manage Metrology Documentation " by WAI's Global Product Manager for Reporting Ping Fang.  In it, Ping discusses techniques for managing metrology data and information.

An article by Gary Hobart and Steve Logee appears in the on-line version of "Micro Manufacturing."  Entitled "Probing for 3-D Micromanufacturing Measurement Solutions" it discusses various methods and equipment for measuring features that can't be measured using conventional CMM technology.

The July issue of Manufacturing Engineering includes an article "In-process Gaging is Cost Effective" that discusses the application of on-machine probing to detect flaws in machining processes before they turn into major problems.  Included is an in-depth look WAI's PC-DMIS NC line of CNC metrology products.

Inspection Planner 

In a recent article, "CAD-Integrated Inspection Planning" published in Quality Digest, Ken Woodbine of Wilcox Associates discusses Inspection Planner.  This is a new product focused on closing the loop between design and inspection.

Desktop Engineering has published a two part article, "Measuring Right for All Your Needs focusing on EMS in general and specifically on Inspection Planner.

Pete Zelinski, Features Editor of Modern Machine Shop, has written an article examining the benefits and potenial of Inspection Planner technologies.  The article, "Connecting CAD and Measurement ", appears in the September 2005 issue.

PC-DMIS NC

The July 2008 issue of Manufacturing Engineering includes an article "In-process Gaging is Cost Effective" that discusses the application of on-machine probing to detect flaws in machining processes before they turn into major problems.  Included is an in-depth look WAI's PC-DMIS NC line of CNC metrology products.

"On-Machine Metrology Taking Off In Aerospace " (by subscription) an overview of PC-DMIS NC software versions and aerospace applications. appears in the March/April 2008 issue of Aerospace Manufacturing and Design.

The March 2008 version of Quality Manufacturing Today spotlights on-machine metrology with an article entitled "Global Manufacturers Get Serious About On-machine Metrology" .

The February 2008 issue of Cutting Tool Engineering features an article about PC-DMIS N.  Entitled "Three Paths Forward ", it discuss three different approaches to on-machine metrology.  It begins on page 86.

In the April 2007 issue of American Machinist, an article entitled " The Software Side of Probing " looks at the application of spindle probes for on-machine, in-inprocess metrology.  Of particluar interest, is a discussion of the use of PC-DMIS NC at Lockheed Martin's Missles and Fire Control Facility in Orlando, FL.

A recent article in Tooling and Production entitled "On Machine Measurement" describes how users can get the most return from NC probes using PC-DMIS NC. 

The cover story of the November, 2004, issue of Modern Machine Shop, entiled "CAM Software for Probing" discuss recent advances in NC probing software.  It addresses PC-DMIS NC in some depth. 

PC-DMIS Vision

An article in the December issue of Quality entitled "Six Rules for Enterprise Metrolgy " discusses EMS and focuses on its application to Vision Metrology.  It examines some of the unique capabilites of PC-DMIS Vision.

Ed Drozdowski, President of Accu-Tech, Inc. and a long-time PC-DMIS user, recently purchase a hybrid, vision machine equipped with PC-DMIS Vision.  In this article, Ed's describes his experiences and points out the advantages of using a metrology software platform.  Please read, "Vision software helps check parts fast " in the January issue of Machine Design.

In a feature article for Quality Magazine,  "2-D Vision for a 3D World",  Gary Hobart, Global Vision Product Manager for Hexagon Metrology, provides an overview of the history and evolution of vision measurement.

Gary Hobart, Hexagon Metrology's Global Vision Product Manager, initiates a regular column in Quality Magazine's Vision and Sensor publication.  The inaugural column discusses the latest developments in "Multisensor Metrology"

Appearing in the February 2008 print edition of CNC West "CAD-Based Metrology Keeps Pace With Changing Times in Silicon Valley" details how an advanced CMM software retrofit helps Reliance Machine Products Inc (Fremont, CA) keep ahead by pleasing customers with very challenging parts.

PC-DMIS Reporting

EMS

This is a link to a feature article published by Quality Today Magazine in the United Kingdom.  Entiled " Shape Verifiers "  it features an interview with Bill Wilcox, President of Wilcox Associates, describing his vision of where metrology and PC-DMIS are headed. 

In "Metrology for Lean ManfacturingTooling and Production discusses the importance of EMS software systems in building lean manufacturing systems.  It also provides a checklist to help readers in evaluating their metrology processes.

Tect Corporation's Cleveland, Ohio, forging plant is using PC-DMIS EMS technology to reduce its reliance on expensive, guillotine gages to check its parts.  Using a combination of software and hardware products coming from both the Hexagon Metrology group and an array of other vendors, Tect has built a metrology system tailored to its specific requirements.  Read about it in Quality Magazine's case study "EMS Reduces Gaging Costs "

The Society of Manufacturing Engineering's Manufacturing Engineering magazine keeps its users abreast of the latest developments in manufacturing technologies. Its September 2006 issue features an extensive interview with Bill Wilcox , President of Wilcox Associates. In it, Bill offers his take on the latest developments in measurement technology across a range of applications.

This a link to a feature article appearing in the January 2007 issue of Quality Magazine. Enterprise Metrology Sleuth
